    Michele Haines, IWCP member and owner of the Spring Mill Cafe, will show how to prepare brioche dough and Coulibiac. The demonstration will be followed by lunch: Coulibiac (salmon) in pastry (brioche) with mushrooms and dill sauce, dandelion salad and choice of dessert.

    Frog Hollow Garden Tour and Lunch
    At the Frog Hollow Garden, 19 Crestfield Road, Wilmington, DE
    The event features a tour of Eve Thyrum’s Wilmington-area 2 1/4 acre garden, Frog Hollow. Frog Hollow is part of the Garden Club of America Collection and is a registered wildlife sanctuary. Eve and her garden have been featured in Fine Gardening, Southern Living and other newspapers.  After the garden tour there will be a luncheon at “Gables at Chadds Ford” at 12 noon.
    The cost of this event is $20 incl. lunch with a choice of three entrees, Dessert, Tea or Coffee, Tax and Tips. Please make checks payable to Johanna Williams.

    After a lunch with wood fired pizza at Carla Lombardi’s home we will go to the QVC Studios in West Chester. There we will have a guided walking tour through the state-of-the-art broadcasting facility of the popular retail channel. We will see and experience how QVC products are sourced, tested and brought to life on air, and delivered to millions of customers. From the observation deck we may be able to watch QVC programs in progress.

    The Pox, the Plague and Purging: A Medical Tour of Early Philadelphia
    Physick House, 321 S. Fourth Street, Philadelphia
    Ron Avery, tour guide, teacher, author and humorist, often referred to as the “Philadelphia-Know-It-All” because of his vast knowledge of local history and personalities, will guide us on a tour to historic places of medical importance. He will talk about early medical history in Philadelphia including the innovations of Dr. Physick and Dr. Benjamin Rush. After the tour, there will be an optional lunch at CHIFA, 700 Chestnut Street. The menu will be Peruvian-Cantonese by Jose Garces.
    From 10:00AM until Noon, $15 per person for the tour, an optional $12.50 for the two-course lunch afterwards. Prosepctive members and geusts are welcome.

    Visit of the National Gallery of Art and the Woodrow Wilson House, Washington, D.C.
    Bus trip leaving from the Community Arts Center, 414 Plush Mill Road, Wallingford, PA 19086
    The morning will begin with a docent tour of the Woodrow Wilson Georgian revival home. The house is a national historic landmark and museum focusing on the Wilson’s Washington years. The bus will then continue to the National Gallery of Art for lunch and the opportunity to view these major exhibitions Gauguin: Maker of Myth and Venice: Canaletto and his Rivals. The first exhibition, organized by Tate Modern, London represent 120 works by Gauguin including oil paintings, pastels, prints, drawings and sculpture. The artists of the second exhibition are also among the most brilliant in 18th century art. The bus will leave the Arts Center in Wallingford promptly at 8 am and return approximately at 7:30 pm. Friends and spouses are welcome. Places are limited; therefore it is first come, first serve!

    The event will include a tour of the villa and garden, and a tea tasting, where each participant will have a bowl of Japanese Matcha tea. The tour and the tea will last about two hours. Paper slippers will be provided, or white socks may be brought to be put on upon entering the house. There will be places on the veranda to sit, if need be and chairs may be provided for the tea.     Spring bloom, particularly of azaleas and rhododendrons, coincides with an exhibit (“Wind through the Trees”) of unique sculpture installations by local and national artists in this botanical woodland garden. We enter through the architecturally interesting new Education Center. Do wear comfortable walking shoes.

We will visit some of the175 rooms, many of them with historical architecture which are furnished with an outstanding collection of antiques and objects added since his death.
