Library Company of Philadelphia

On October 9th, about ten IWCP members visited an exhibition at the Library Company in Philadelphia. The exhibition featured the artist William Birch (1755 – 1834) who captured the city of Philadelphia in a book of engravings in the year 1800 .
The Library company was founded in 1731 by Benjamin Franklin and served as America’s first successful lending library following the American Revolution.
